Correlation of Conjunctival Impression Cytology and Clinical Examination in University Students at Lahore during the COVID-19

During COVID 19 pandemic every home-bound school, college, and university student was using computers electronic gadgets for social networking online education. To assess the effects of these on ocular vision-related problems, very little research had been done Pakistani population, especially among students. An analytical cross-sectional study carried out 355 students University Punjab. Questionnaire-based data were collected by measurement tearfilm breakup time(TBUT), number corneal dry spots, Schirmer’s test, conjunctival impression cytology(CIC). Pearson correlation analysis CIC score versus TBUT, test Goblet Cell Density (GCD). Analysis variance (ANOVA) used mean comparison visual acuity, cornea to see significance results. P-value≤0.05 considered statistically significant. Out ofthe students, 65% females. The age 22.30 ± 6.8 years. At each level there no significant difference between meansof different levels acuity (F=0.488, p=0.614). A meandifference found TBUT (F=208.45p=<0.001), andcornea spot (F=39.31, p=<0.001), (F=5.83, p=0.001). Forthe early diagnosis management CVS, in addition applying validated questionnaire clinical eye tests, Conjunctival cytology can be tested a larger population proven as gold slandered test.
